Xbox Live Customer Service Rules

Today, I received an email from Microsoft regarding a possible billing mistake:

For those who might have difficulty reading the image, here is the full message body:

Dear bandersnatched,

It has recently come to our attention that some consumers who purchased Microsoft Points through Xbox LiveĀ® Marketplace have received incorrect tax charges. We have identified those affected and are processing refunds on the credit card used for the purchase. This refund should appear on your credit card statement within 1-2 billing cycles.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Thank you,
Xbox Live Team

Color me impressed. Kudos for Microsoft for taking the proactive approach here by sending off an email explaining the problem, what actions they’re taking to correct the issue and how they resolve it.

Thanks to the care they’ve taken I don’t have to call in asking for clarification because everything is right there. Not to mention, it’s so refreshing to see this from a large company, opposed to the usual bullshit is where companies sweep the issue under the rug, waiting till the customer calls in irate, wasting their own time and money, to get back money that’s been taken from them due to a billing error.

Bravo, Microsoft. I might not be a fan of Windows but I’ll be a customer of Xbox Live for a long time to come.
